Happy Turkey Day! May your Thanksgiving Holiday be joyous and full of friends, family and cheer.

Scott McClellan, former White House spokesperson

Also, addressing the Valarie Plame CIA leak case, a new book by the former White House spokesperson appears to point some very dangerous fingers at some very powerful people. PublicAffairs Books: WHAT HAPPENED : "The most powerful leader in the world had called upon me to speak on his behalf and help restore credibility he lost amid the failure to find weapons of mass destruction in Iraq. So I stood at the White house briefing room podium in front of the glare of the klieg lights for the better part of two weeks and publicly exonerated two of the senior-most aides in the White House: Karl Rove and Scooter Libby. There was one problem. It was not true. I had unknowingly passed along false information. And five of the highest ranking officials in the administration were involved in my doing so: Rove, Libby, the vice President, the President's chief of staff, and the President himself."

Low-Income Home Energy Assistance Program opens for 2007-08

Low-Income Home Energy Assistance Program opens for 2007-08 With winter fast approaching, I wanted to let you know that assistance with winter heating bills is available for those who qualify through the Low-Income Home Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP). LIHEAP is a federally funded program administered by the Department of Public Welfare that helps low-income households pay for home heating fuel through cash grants and emergency furnace repairs through crisis grants. For the 2007-08 season, a family of four with an annual income of up to $30,975 can qualify for LIHEAP. Applications are available at County Assistance Offices, local utility companies and community service agencies, such as Area Agencies on Aging or Community Action Agencies. Families can also apply here for LIHEAP cash grants online. The LIHEAP program is also part of the governor's Stay Warm PA initiative. Visit www.staywarmpa.com to find out more about available assistance programs, energy conser...

Olbermann to Bush: 'Your hypocrisy is so vast'

While I did not agree with the necessity and tone of the MoveOn ad, the reaction to it by the President and Congress is nothing short of idiotic. Olbermann's points are much more suited to the issue than MoveOn's. Sen's Spector and especially Casey should be ashamed for voting on a bill singling out a civil action group for speaking their mind. The Senate should be above this type of petty behavior, and keep the "Sense of the Senate" to themselves. It's another "Freedom Fries" moment.

Evening Sun - Former McSherrystown mayor remembered

Evening Sun - Former McSherrystown mayor remembered : Former McSherrystown mayor remembered By ASHLEY ADAMS Evening Sun Reporter Article Launched: 08/29/2007 10:17:36 AM EDT Most people knew him as the mayor of McSherrystown. To some, he was just plain "Moe." To his family, he was a dedicated husband, father and grandfather. But for everyone who came into contact with Cyril T. Noel, he was a trustworthy, generous and dependable man who gave to his family and community without expecting anything in return. Noel died Saturday at York Hospital at the age of 82. "We really are going to miss him because he was our rock," said his wife, Frances Noel. Cyril lived in McSherrystown his whole life and, as a young boy, acquired the "Moe" moniker. "Everyone has a nickname in McSherrystown," said his son, David Noel. "That's just how they did it." Frances said Cyril never liked his given name. He even had an uncle who would call him ...

Evening Sun - Moul, Nickol: State should pay for bypass

Evening Sun - Moul, Nickol: State should pay for bypass : Moul, Nickol: State should pay for bypass By ASHLEY ADAMS Evening Sun Reporter Article Launched: 08/30/2007 10:36:43 AM EDT Two state representatives feel it should be up to the state to come up with the money to make the proposed McSherrystown bypass a reality. "This project needs to be funded by state and federal dollars," said state Rep. Dan Moul, R-Conewago Township. "The residents of Conewago Township shouldn't have to bear the costs. I live in Conewago Township. We have enough taxes to worry about." The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation stopped work on the proposed bypass, also known as the Eisenhower Drive extension west, during the preliminary design phase after receiving a letter from Conewago Township in June announcing the township was pulling its support for the project. The township supervisors said other roads need improvements before a new one should be built. But last week, the s...

August 3, 2007 Storm...

The storm that came through on August 3rd downed power lines and trees throughout McSherrystown, and was pretty localized to our area, even following a path of destruction. However, it was not a tornado. I am no expert, just a spotter (the experts ruled it not a tornado), but I think it was a downburst, as opposed to a wall cloud. Everything fell to the West from a East-moving storm. Fast Response I'd also like to note the quick response of S.A.V.E.S., the Borough, McSherrystown P.D. and MetEd. Numerous downed wires were secure within minutes, roads were cordoned off within an hour, long before it started getting dark. All told, much of the problems were solved within six hours.

Sick for Two Weeks...

I have been under the weather for the past two weeks, and looking at my email, have a backlog of unread messages dating back to at least the 5th. The last public event I attended before being floored with my current breathing problems was the YMCA Leadership Breakfast on Thursday the 7th. After work on the 7th, I have been off work and all activities. I have a bacterial lung infection complicated by asthma. I had a fever for over a week. With a second round of medications starting up, (after the first round did little), I worked myself well enough Saturday night to take our daughters to the Delone Carnival, which was fun. I am still coughing and my voice is far from normal (and I feel weak), but I "feel better " and I'm back at work and trying to get back into the thick of things. If you are waiting on me for a response, I am trying to catch up. I may still forgo some upcoming events, especially those with travel.

The link above includes ABC's story and a link to the video news story.
